    The Gippsland Gladiators Gridiron Club rose from the ashes of an old flag football team in October of 2010. Two of the original players, Buck Buchanan and Chris King, found themselves involved in something much larger than a casual Saturday game amongst friends when news of the new Gippsland gridiron team spread. Within two weeks their two players had grown to twenty-five and the Gladiators now boast a roster of over forty players. They attracted players from all over Gippsland, including Maffra, Sale, Stratford, Heyfield, Traralgon, Morwell, Moe, Leongatha and Drouin, and so starting holding regular training in Sale.
