    Initial racing started in 1894 where cyclists raced on dirt roads between Maryborough, Hervey Bay and surrounding districts. The First track or velodrome racing was 36 years away and eventually started at Howard 40 kms from Maryborough, but this was later transferred to Granville in Maryborough in 1953, again on a dirt surface and without any lights. Finally in 1960 the track was transferred to its current site in Cran street in Tinana, where it was sealed with asphalt, providing a lightning fast surface. One year later overhead lighting was installed.
