The Sandy Bay Rowing Club was formed in 1906. Located in the Hobart suburb of Sandy Bay, it's facilities include a boat shed, gymnasium and club rooms that lie on the edge of the river Derwent, flowing through the city of Hobart on its way to the Southern Ocean. Â The Derwent River is ideal for rowing training with many of the southern Tasmanian clubs located on its shores.Â Rowing programs are available for anyone interested in rowing and a number of experienced coaches are available to provide coaching to novice or experienced rowers. The Sandy Bay Rowing Club has affiliations with the Fahan School and Mount Carmel College which are both also located in Sandy Bay and has an expanding number students from the University of Tasmania rowing at the club due to its close proximity to the university.Â

The Glenorchy Rowing Club, the youngest rowing club in Tasmania, sits on the banks of the River Derwent in Glenorchy not far from Hobart's world famous MONA. Our club motto is 'fun, fitness and friendship' and membership is open to anyone who wants to row. Our members are of all ages and skill levels and the club has a strong para rowing program.
New members are always welcome. Members can row competitively or socially. Some members choose to row just for fun, others compete in Tasmanian and interstate regattas. A number have gone on to row internationally at World Championships and the Olympics. It's up to you to decide; we can help you do it.
